8th grade Math Teacher, Jessica Wells, has been voted as the 2020-21 Teacher of the Year for Charles P Murray Middle School. Mrs. Wells has been teaching math at Murray Middle for 17 years (four of those years she also taught science but she prefers teaching math). She is the math department chairperson and serves on the leadership team. She has been the Mathcounts coach for 12 years and loves coaching the Mathletes! In 2020, right before the shutdown, the Murray Mathletes placed 3rd in the southeast district. Mrs. Wells has served on the wellness committee since starting at Murray and also as the wellness coordinator. She has been a mentor for a beginning teacher and a partnership teacher to 4 interns. Mrs. Wells organizes the wildly successful McTeacher Night fundraiser each year. She also serves as a PLC leader. Last but not least, Mrs. Wells has been in charge of blowing the whistle at recess for many years. She enjoys helping out her colleagues and Murray any way she can.
